IMPRESSIONS

22 06 2009

In the 21st Century, it seems to make your city cool, you have to let loose a few contemporary architects on your city planning. Sometimes the creations are questionable but all are out to make a statement in one way or another.

In Melbourne there are two that stick out in the city. R.M.I.T’s STOREY HALL, and ACMI (Australian Center for the Moving Image). Both these buildings brought much debate and divided opinion.

However in Switzerland, they opted for something a little more organic in a sense of the word. THE SWISS TECHNORAMA SCIENCE CENTER got their designers to create a facade for the building using thousands of aluminum panels that move with the wind. The air currents then create these ‘moving’ patterns with the wind turbulence. You get the idea in the vid, but I can just imagine it would look 1000 times more impressive than it does.
