STAR WARS @ SCIENCEWORKS

ScienceWorks

Its not secret that Im a bit of a geek when it comes to Star Wars. I have always loved everything about it from the films to the merchandise. Something about being a hero that saves the galaxy from his own father who was a good man corrupted by the evil powers of the universe. Or was it the spaceships……hmm. Could also be the lighsabers. Maybe it was the nazi looking stormtroopers. Whatever it was, I have been hooked ever since. And it seems that Im not the only one.

In fact the Star Wars franchise is so big that they decided to have a an exhibition in conjunction with Science Works – exhibiting some of the wardrobes, props, models and concepts that helped create this mega empire over the last few decades. Most of the items displayed were actual props and models for the stop motion scenes. I can’t say that it was the best Star Wars shindig that I have ever been to, but I have to admit that there were many things I have never seen outside any of the movies. And the way they set it up was great for the kids, because much of the theory and science behind it had been integrated into related interactive games for the little tackers to play with and learn.  In saying that, I wished that we had gone during the week and not on a Saturday as there were too many screaming children and prams. Way too many.

The exhibition will be up until the 3rd of November this year, so if you’re into Star Wars and have some time, go check it out.

Heaps and heaps of pictures after the jump….

That one is an Interrogation Droid used by the Empire. I saw this exhibit twice in St. Paul, MN. Every fan should not miss it. I took a lot of pictures as well and I’m planning to build a replica of it. Looking at the model in person, one will notice that most of the model dressing is made with off the shelf stuff including a veterinarian syringe.

Cheers!
