HAUNTING

Welcome to my new favourite artist….not that I have had one in the past. I love Shepard Fairey to death, but you can’t really compare stencil art to paintings like these.

Say hello to the work of Sylvia Ji. The first time I saw her work was at a local gallery in town and there were two massive prints framed up hanging on the main wall. I knew I was in love when I found myself staring at the two pictures for an extremely long time, especially for someone who’s attention span can be compared to that of a fish.

I managed to track down her site and find most of her work in the gallery. Even though all of them look tight on here, you should, if you get a chance see her work first hand. The colours and detail are so much more vibrant on a blown up print or even better original painting. Burlesque, Day of the Dead, skulls, spiders and roses. What a recipe!

Heaps and heaps more of my favourites after the jump. You’ll also find a link to Sylvia’s site at the end.
