This is Andy from Fyxomatosis. He lives and breathes bikes, specially track bikes. Andy was also the winner of the ‘Fix Up Look Sharp’ alleycat on the weekend past and took home the $700 cash prize. I also think that he had the best looking bike there on the day.

One of the organisers, CHAZ, has written a report on the event. It’s long but It will give you an idea of what went down.

Daniel Merriweather was on The Late Show a couple of nights ago. Really great to see a local boy kicking some ass overseas.

His song with rapper WALE – ‘CHANGE’ – has been in my weekly playlist for at least 10 months now.

Played an 8 hour set last night for the Vodka’O’ party at Electric Ladyland. They sponsor pretty much the entire GT Racing Class and some others which I fail to remember. It was one of the many after parties for the Melbourne Grand Prix and the venue was packed pretty much from the time the race finished till 3am.

Because it was a huge after party, I had expected at least a handful of motor sport names to roll through. But alas, only one minor celebrity turned up. Meet DANIEL GAUNT. One of the rising stars in the V8-Supercar series in Australia. I though he was worth a mention cos he was a really nice guy. It was just strange that I actually knew who he was from following the V8 series.

I’ve been doing this commercial DJ’ing around town now for a good couple years at least. And I hate to say it but the regular punter in Melbourne these days have no idea about music. It seems like the passion for going out and listening to good tunes have morphed into a zombified stereotype that feeds on what NovaFM and Video Hits decide society should enjoy. The DJ’s also have a lot to answer for this. I know it for a fact cos I too succumb to the demands of the majority on a weekly basis.

What do you do though? I believe as a commercial DJ, one has to balance keeping the crowd without selling out too much. But what is selling out too much? Where is that line? At the end of the day the bar has to make money and the only way to do it is with happy punters – bad or good.

All that said, I feel privileged to be a resident DJ at Revolver. I think its one of the only venues left in Melbourne that has welcomed pushing the norm when it comes to music. Sure there might be the occasional rude pop track, but most of the time the music is of quality. What more people who come to Revolver come with their minds a little bit more open because of it’s music culture. This allows for the DJ’s to be a little more expressive than they normally would.

Drop in sometime and say hi. Grab some dinner from COLONEL TAN’S early and Ill play you some cool tunes.

Its that time of year again in Melbourne where the F-1 cars go whizzing around the Albert Park Lake. I’m what you call a couch motor sport fan – but its awesome when you can hear the actual cars going round while you’re watching the telecast from the comforts of your lounge room!

There is gonna be so much going on in Melbourne this weekend, and if you’re keen on checking the racing out – check the OFFICIAL FORMULA-1 WEBSITE!
